Attendance
At Charlotte we believe that children can only achieve their full potential and access their full education if they have excellent attendance and punctuality. In order to support parents to achieve this we regularly monitor all children’s attendance.
Good attendance is over 96%
We are aspiring for attendance of 98% for all of our children.
If we are worried about your child’s attendance we will contact you to let you know that we are monitoring this and if this falls below 90% we may invite you into school for an attendance meeting with our Family Support Worker and attendance Officer. The purpose of the meeting is to find out if there are any issues that we are unaware of and to offer support and advice.
If your child's attendance does not improve then it is possible that legal proceedings may be started. We will do everything we can to avoid parents being issued with a fine, but please appreciate that it is parent’s responsibility to ensure good attendance.
Nursery starts at 8.30am (through the side gate)
If your child is absent for any reason, then it is important that you ring school asap to let us know the reason why. If your child needs to attend a medical appointment then please bring in their appointment card or letter so this can be authorised.
If you require any further information or support please speak to Miss Mower, our Family Support Worker, or Mrs Walsh, our Attendance Officer.
Please see below our attached Attendance Information Leaflet, our most recent Attendance Policy and Derbyshire County Council’s ‘School Attendance – The Law’ information.
Your child’s education and welfare are at the heart of our work on attendance. Charlotte School thanks you for your support on this matter.

If your child is off school we will need an explanation.
There have been public cases in the past where schools have not chased up the reasons as to why children are off school. It has then transpired that there have been tragic circumstances around these absences, e.g. illness of a parent and a child unable to seek help.
We will do everything we can to prevent such situations occurring as we are sure you will agree that your child’s safety is paramount to us all.
If your child is not going to be in school please call the office on 01159320970 to report their absence. Please do this before 9.30am on the first day of absence.
If we do not know why your child is off we will send a text message and telephone the contacts on our system.
